At any given time of day, the flight of the rooftop pigeons resemble the sound of a sudden, torrential downpour. A flock gathers throughout the day, awaiting their daily seed to be generously scattered about. This feeding usually follows nourishing of the fifteen household felines the 450 strays and their shelter seeking buddies, the raccoons. All of these children were drawn to us out of need, the need for someone to care, and we do.
A day at the office is a family owned and operated curiosity shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Mystic Curio is our livelihood and the One Earth Foundation’s main monetary vehicle.
Within the midst of all this and before the close of the day, begins round three. We must maintain the well-being of our 450+ animal refugees, along with their preparations for adoption. The funding of the Foundation always outweighs personal gain, as exemplary of our continuance to use the family vehicle, a 1972 purchased in '83, for ourselves and for the transport of seekers and their supplies. The need is what drives us, not the mode of which gets us there. The need is for someone to care, and do.
The cycle repeats daily and we continue to lead the charge in the unending war of adoptions vs. seekers. We, the One Earth Foundation, have won thousands of battles over the years, but the war is far from over. We need your help today. OEF is completely out of resources, having literally exceeded our income. We retain just enough from our family business to just get by, simply because of, our dedication to and the support of, the One Earth Foundation. OEF seeks your kindness today, financially and emotionally.
In addition to finding good and loving homes, we provide counseling to all our adopting parents. Instruction and education on their new pet is one of OEF’s Golden Rules. Every animal owner must know the how to’s and what for’s prior to finalizing the adoption. Knowing what to expect and how to handle it, makes all the difference between a healthy and an unhealthy environment, for everyone. Adoptees are available on a first come, first serve basis, so don’t miss out.
